Tipu MACD Oscillator is a modified variant of the original MACD oscillator printed by MetaQuotes here.
- Choice of two kinds of signals (crossing the zero line, Crossing the main line).
- choose the plot kind (Histogram, Lines, or Lines along with Histogram).
- Customizable buy/sell alarms, push notifications, email alerts, and a pop-up message onto the screen.
Add Tipu Panel (located here) and unlock additional features:
- Easy-to-use Panel which shows the trend sign of the chosen timeframes.
- produce your own approach using the optional Tipu Panel indicator.
- Add the superior Tipu Trend indicator and get more chances to utilize MACD signals.
- A custom panel. The panel can be placed anywhere on the chart or collapsed to free up space.

The MACD oscillator was developed by Gerald Appel in the late 1970s. It is a pulse oscillator that is calculated by subtracting two moving averages of the price calculated by the price. The MACD oscillator is one of the simplest indicators that provides the best of trend and momentum.
Moving Average Convergence / Divergence (MACD), as the name implies, analyzes the convergence and divergence of two moving averages. There are three ways to use the MACD:
- Zero Line Crossing-The MACD crossing of the zero line means that the two moving averages intersect. For example, when the MACD crosses the zero line from bottom to top, it means that the fast moving average has crossed the slow moving average and moved up (bullish crossing).
- Signal Line Crossing-The MACD signal line is a simple moving average of the main line and can help you notice a trend change early on. For example, when the main MACD line crosses the signal line from the bottom up, it means that the moving average of the trend is moving up. This can be used as a buy signal.
- Convergence/Divergence-divergence (divergence) occurs when the directional movement of the MACD indicator is not confirmed by price action. For example, a bullish divergence occurs when a lower low is recorded on the EURUSD pair, and the MACD indicator forms a higher low. This means that EURUSD is losing momentum and a bullish correction is possible.
- The full description of the MACD oscillator is available here.
MACD = EMA(CLOSE, 12)-EMA(CLOSE, 26)
SIGNAL = SMA(MACD, 9)
MACD = EMA(CLOSE, 12)-EMA(CLOSE, 26)
- Section #1-The MACD settings used in the Tipu Panel and when drawing the MACD
- MACD Mode – the mode of displaying the MACD, a choice of Lines( Lines), Histogram( Histogram), or Lines Histogram (Lines and Histogram)
- Fast EMA Period-parameter for the MACD
- Slow EMA Period-parameter for the MACD
- Signal SMA Period-parameter for the MACD
- Applied Price – the price to calculate
- Types of signals
- Zero line cross-generates a trading signal when the main MACD line crosses the zero line. For example, a buy signal will be generated if the main MACD line was below zero on the previous analyzed candle, and it is above zero on the current one.
- Main Signal Cross-generates a trading signal when the main line crosses the signal line.
- Mark Buy/Sell Signals-mark buy/sell signals, you can choose Arrow (arrows), Vertical Lines (vertical lines) or nothing.
- Arrow offset (pips) – (this parameter works when mark buy/sell signals = Arrow) indent from the price of the maximum (sell signal) and minimum (buy signal) to display the arrow. The higher the parameter value, the further the arrow will be displayed from the high/low price.
- Buy/Sell Colors – color of signal symbols
- Section #2-Multi-currency Panel Settings
- Enable Dashboard? – display panel, true/false
- Color settings, background color, trend on sale, the color of the signals, the background color of the trend to buy, color buy signals

- Enable Tipu Panel-display the panel, true/false
- Short name for Tipu Panel – short name for the Tipu Panel title.
- Section #4-Global Buy/Sell Alert Settings – these settings only affect the Tipu Panel and the Tipu MACD rendering. Notifications in the panel are managed using the settings dialog box.
