The Trend Strength indicator is now available for MetaTrader 5.

This indicator determines the strength of a short-term trend using the tick history that it remembers during its operation.

The indicator is based on two principles of technical trend analysis:

The indicator works on the timeframes M30, H1, H4 and D1.

It will be convenient to work with this indicator both in manual and automatic mode.

For manual trading, it is possible to send e-mail messages and play an audio alert when a buy or sell signal is received.

To obtain accurate data on the current trend strength in automatic mode, it is better to refer to the global variables of the client terminal that the indicator creates (it is necessary that the indicator be loaded onto the chart at the same time). Also, the indicator data can be obtained in a standard way through indicator buffers.

  • does not use third-party indicators;
  • works with tick history;
  • does not redraw;
  • it works on the timeframes M30, H1, H4 and D1;
  • sending e-mail messages and playing an audio signal;
  • access to the indicator readings not only through indicator buffers, but also using global variables of the client terminal;

Input parameters of the indicator

[spoiler title=”Read More…”]

  • To use different fixed numbers of the trend – if this parameter takes the value “true”, then trend strength indicators whose value is greater than or equal to the specified one are taken into account in the calculation of the lines. If “false”, then the specified number of bars with the highest values of trend strength are taken into account (separately for bullish and bearish trends);
  • Fixed numbers of the trend – the specified value of the trend strength (the parameter is used when “To use different fixed numbers of the trend” = true);
  • Number of bars to calculate average numbers – the specified number of bars with the highest values of trend strength (the parameter is used when “To use different fixed numbers of the trend” = false);
  • Number of bars for analysis – selected historical period.

The following four parameters are used to configure the conditions for the receipt of trading signals and the method of their submission:

  • To send an E-mail – sending e-mail messages (Enable/Turn off);
  • Give sound signal – sound notification(Enable/Turn off);
  • Alert settings – setting the signal conditions: when the specified trend strength is exceeded (Alert settings = FixNumber), when the green or magenta lines intersect (Alert settings = SignalLine), or if the first and second conditions are met (Alert settings = SignalLine_and_FixNumber);
  • The fixed strength of the trend – the specified strength of the trend.

The last parameter determines the number of bars of the nearest history for which the indicator values will be calculated:

  • Size history bar – the number of bars.

The blue and red wide columns of the indicator display data on the greatest strength of the bullish and bearish trend, respectively, which were recorded during the formation of the bar. The thin columns of the indicator display data on the current trend strength (for the current bar) and the trend strength at the time of closing of the bar (for formed bars).
