MultiCrossAlert is a universal solution for getting alerts when one line of the indicator or oscillator crosses another up or down. MultiCrossAlert can track up to three intersections, which can be useful for traders working with indicators such as moving averages, Bill Williams ‘ Alligator, Ichimoku, and others.
MultiCrossAlert uses the alert system of the MetaTrader platform and can send you notifications via the terminal or by email with the appropriate settings (“Service”/”Settings” / the “Mail” and “Notifications” tabs).
MultiCrossAlert can send notifications when working with the following indicators:
- Moving averages (simple, exponential, smoothed, and weighted)
- Ichimoku Lines)
- Bill Williams ‘ Alligator (Alligator by Bill Williams)
MultiCrossAlert can track up to three indicators, each of which has its own zone in the properties window. There you can select one of the following indicators for comparison:
- None-set it if you don’t want to use the indicator for comparison.
- Moving Average – you will need to set two parameters: for periods and for the shift to the right. In addition, the averaging method and the price type are used.
- Ichimoku – You will need to set two parameters: the first one is for the Tenkansen periods and the second one is for the Kijunsen periods.
- Alligator – you will need to set the parmeters for the line you want to evaluate. The first parameter is for periods, and the second parameter is for shifts. You will also need to set the smoothing (“smooth”) for the averaging method and the average (“Median”) for the price type. This must be done for all Alligator lines (Bill Williams ‘ original settings are 13.8 for jaws, 8.5 for teeth, and 5.3 for lips).
- Custom – used to compare the lines of any other indicator. When selecting Custom, the only parameter considered by MultiCrossAlert in the indicator area is Line.

For all three indicator lines available for comparison, you can select the line formed by the indicator itself. It is indicated by a number from 0 to 7. If your indicator forms 1 line (as a moving average), select 0. For indicators that form a line together with a moving average for smoothing (MACD, Stochastic), 1 will almost always be a moving average line. In the case of an Alligator that forms 3 lines, 0 is used for the jaws, 1 for the teeth, and 2 for the lips.
When you select Custom, you can get alerts for all other indicators or oscillators. If Custom is selected, you must fill in the appropriate fields in the “Custom Indicators” zone.
Enter the name of the indicator in the “If Custom Selected: PathIndicator” field. The required parameters are entered in the field “If Custom Selected: Parameters Separated by comma” separated by commas.
All necessary parameters of the indicator must be entered in the specified field. Example: if you want to get alerts when the MACD oscillator crosses its moving average, select Custom for the first and second indicators, and then do the same in PathIndicator Name for the first and second indicators: MACD and parameters: 12,26,9,0, where 12,26,9 are the standard parameters of the MACD (fast EMA, slow EMA, and smoothing MA), and 0 is intended for Close (closing price) as the price type (applied price).
Finally, you should set the Index Line for the 1st indicator to 0 and the Index Line for the 2nd indicator to 1to receive alerts when the MACD crosses its moving average.
You can set up to 4 parameters (usually 3 for the indicator/oscillator, and the last one for the price type). After that, you can use alerts for the indicators as follows (name and approximate values):
- MACD 12,26,9,0
- Stochastic 5,3,3,0
You can get alerts from any other custom indicator if it displays its result in a buffer.
Below are suggestions for parameter values:
Use the following list to determine the most appropriate value for the price type:
- 0: Close Price)
- 1: High Price (maximum price)
- 2: Low Price (minimum price)
- 3: Open Price)
- 4: Median (H L/2) (average)
- 5: Typical Price (H L C/3) (typical price)
- 6: Weighted (O H L C/4) (weighted)
If the oscillator can choose the averaging method for its moving average, use the following list:
- 0 Simple (simple)
- 1 Exponential (exponential)
- 2 Smoothed (smoothed)
- 3 LinearWeighted (weighted)
If you are not sure whether the custom (external) indicator is being called correctly, turn on the Terminal window (Ctrl T) and open the “Experts” tab. In case of an error, the warning “Cannot open file…” will appear.
If everything is fine and the setting is ” Show Comments?” If the Cross Alert indicator is set to true, you will see the indicator value for the last currently completed bar and will be able to check whether it matches the value of the called indicator.
If you want to receive alerts from the indicator, but do not know how to call it, I can help you. Write to me in the comments.
